A team player –
Otis exhibited a dedication to and a love for football through his efforts both on and off the field. Otis participated in youth football from 4th grade at St. Mary’s grade school in Woodstock, Illinois through high school at Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Illinois where he earned several awards for his success and dedication on the field. He again demonstrated his love for athletics and being part of a team his team commitment while at Holy Cross College in South Bend, Indiana where he was a member of the University of Notre Dame Club Rugby team. This commitment was carried on as a member of the Football Student Manager Staff for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badger football team. Otis recognized and respected what it meant to be a member of a team and strived to be the best possible athlete, competitor and teammate. Through dedication, hard work and an unwavering loyalty to the Badger Team, Coaching Staff and Student Manager Staff, Otis became a well-respected and loved member of the Badger Football Program.
A modest leader –
During his 22 years, Kevin grew into a ‘modest leader’ off the field who demonstrated his leadership abilities through his long-time employment as a Pier Manager at Gordy’s Lakefront Marine in Fontana, Wisconsin. There, he was not only well-respected by fellow employees but by Gordy’s customers. Otis often could be found engaging a Gordy’s customer as to the Lake Geneva experience or ‘coaching’ a new employee how to maneuver a 26’ Cobalt boat on Geneva Lake. He demonstrated and enhanced these leadership skills at UW Madison within the Student Football Manager program.
A true friend –
Otis valued his personal relationships as much as his love for the game of football and his work. His family, friends and acquaintances were dear to Kevin and he touched each and every person in a unique and personal way – he was always the one to ‘bring people together'. To be a friend of Otis’s meant not only experiencing a ‘good time’ and new adventures, but also being the recipient of his unconditional love. Otis always had time for his friends and family and positively impacted the lives of many. Otis’ family was dear to him as was evident in his many adventures with his older brother Patrick, his protective commitment of younger sisters Meghan, Kersten and Katie and his close relationship with his grandmother Mary Green. In addition, his aunts, uncles and cousins each had a special place in Otis’ life.
